Steve from The Sneeze did a taste test of pickled pork rinds a few years ago that was the inspiration for this post. Before he tried eating them, he emptied the jar of rinds and tried to put them back together again, like all the rinds were from the same pig. Well, pickled pork rinds - I'm not a fan of, especially after reading his comments here-
http://www.thesneeze.com/mt-archives/cat_steve_dont_eat_it.php. But why not regular fried pork rinds? I bought this little bag (actually I bought another also, that I ate the night before), and tried to put piggy back together again.
So here it is, believe it or not (I've had some doubters, but whatever). Enjoy!
Art Supplies - 99 cents. Hot, Barbeque taste- Priceless.
The especially ugly, hard one that I used for the tail.

It wasn't looking too promising early, and I used every single one!

Oink!!

Hysterical! (I'm a closet pork-rind fan myself....)
That, my dear is talent!!!!! Pork rinds are an american thing, we don't have them here in Canada, and you just couldn't do that with a popcorn twist..... or could you :-) Cheers
That's pretty impressive, but can you do it with soggy rinds, that's the question.
awwww un Cochi! (pig) nice work....
I love your work! It makes me smile on a daily basis. I'm also consistently impressed with your wire architecture.
I have a little something fun I'd like to mail to you to see if you could work with it - I hope you'd be okay with it! meraley@gmail.com let me know if you are!
omg! That's unbelievable. When I first started reading I couldn't see how it could be done but man...props on the interior wire structure that must've taken. I don't know how hard pork rinds are, but they must have been harder to work with than most materials. oink oink!
Man you really ARE bored. :-P
I hate when people leave links on my blog - but that said - your sense of humor tells me that you would enjoy a friends site - www.magicgoat.com
It's alot of reading - but worth it for the belly laughs.
Hello, I dunno you, but your art is great, damn creative :)
Keep doing the same, you are very smart (or that's what I think.. xD)
You scare me... ... and make me hungry.
This is the first time I have been here. I love it. makes me laugh, you have a great sence of humor. It shows in your work. Love it.
I can decide if this is gross or really cool. Of course I am impressed, but I don't want to think about parts of a pig!
you are my hero.
Wow!!!
Amaaaaazing work! Thanks for stopping by, I'll be checkin back here for more!

Holy pork rinds Terry! That's amazing!
Being married to a southern guy, I understand people's love for the pork rind, however I think that your use for them is WAY better than actually eating them! Keep up the good (and entertaining) work.
It must have been hard not to eat even one!
:::smile::: but what you created was oinkiful!
Waiting to see if you add some beef jerky to join clever piggy.
Okay Terry... I am sure I see two pudgy little cheeks in the pile of bits that are not in the final edition.... hmmm....could just be the angle from which I am viewing.... ....but perhaps somebody did so eat some chubby jowels...
thanks all!
And NO, I didn't eat any, not even one. I bought a seperate bag and scarfed 'em down the night before!
For anyone who hasn't tried 'em, and isnt' a vegetarian yet, buy a bag, you'll like them!
Beef Jerky eh? Hmmm.
Pork rinds, hmmm... I've never tried them, but after reading all these comments, I think I may actually want to try some... but anyways, I think that pig is so cute!!
Gosh, Your works are so creative and amazing. It was a lot of fun to see it. Surely will be back.
dang. i've gone through a whole bunch of your posts, and am so excited that i stumbled across your webpage, thanks to blogger's "blogs of note" feature. excellent stuff. can't wait for more.
HAHAHAHAHA. That's really cute.
I love things that make me laugh.
How about making a mouse out of cat treats? Just a thought. :))
You must love to tell people to get bent! LOL
Sootie xo
Awesome!
hmmm.
I don't know that I could eat fried pig skin... but hey, why not I love eating the other pig parts.
Terry, I hope you don't mind I put a link on my page to yours, I found you thru Steve's page a while back... and you make me smile!!!
I don't mind if anyone puts an image of mine on their blog, as long as there's a link back here to the motherlode!
Thanks everyone!
Great stuff! Consider yourself linked-to.
That was superb Terry....I am new to your blog.......
that was really nice stuff...
Big fan of the Sneeze! Bigger fan of Steve Don't Eat It..
This pork rind pig is awesome!!
umm hi cool ideas there really original It actually caught my attenshion
ps. i'm 12 years old
bull shit
Dear anonymous- Gesundheit!
Perhaps I'm remedial or something, but I'm not seeing the pig. I see the bag of rinds, I see them spread on the table next to the empty bag...and that's it. Is my internets broken? Please advise. I linked here from The Sneeze and would love to see the finished pig (by)product.
Amanda
You and me both, Amanda. I can't see anything beyond the spread out pork bits.
Maybe I'm just blind, but I don't see a pig! :( Maybe you could draw lines to show how it is a pig?
I'm not seeing the pig either. Is this kind of like the Emporer's New Clothes?
I'm also new to this site. Lot's of really neat ideas here! Good work!!
BONNIE?!?
No pork rinds in Canada? What the fuck is that about?
Well, we don't have ketchup chips. This is a cruel planet sometimes.
I don't know why, but half the post dissappeared sometime today. I just put Humpty back together again.
I finally see it now. I had that same problem just seeing them spread out. I was looking, trying to see a pig's face. I realize now how stupid I was to just ignore the words "the especially ugly, hard one that I used for the tail."
Great work; I love all the posts I've yet seen.
wow, you nailed it, what pig-ness!
I am so glad you did not watse your mind in accounting, or at the post office...... you didn't, did you ?
excellent use of rinds. it will probably last forever without any additional preservatives.
I just love it!
Wow. You are mad talented!
I just ran across your spot here today while checking out Steve's spot. This little pig is ingenious!!! Who'd a thunk you could put a bag of pork rinds together and make a pig??? Impressive! Entertaining! And oh so original!
Ah, pictures were missing. That explains why I didn't see the pig... it wasn't there!
...and to think I stared at that second picture - the one with the rinds laying next to the bag - for quite a few minutes trying to "find the pig". I thought I was going nuts! :-)
Wha? I'm from Canada, and we do SO have pork rinds. I've eaten them myself! The brand name was Porky's. (Go figure)
P.S. Great blog, Terry!
Very good!
I always wondered what Pork Scratchings were known as outside of Britain.
Now I know and I also know that they can be used for creating works of art.
So...this is how it's done! :-)
We mere think of making curry or chops with it. You have just gone one step further - and made such a nice thing out of it! High thinking!
