Yes, yet another cheese doodle/poof/curl image! Aren't you guys lucky!
I post this one in honor of choosing the official date of SOSAD (Strangely Orange Snack Appreciation Day) - JUNE 21st! Which not coincidentally is also the longest day of the year, otherwise known as the Summer Solstice.
I keep vacillating on the acronym for this day, from SOSAD to OSNAP. The latter is much catchier, but celebrates the eater of these snacks maybe, instead of the snacks themselves (or maybe I'm just thinking about this waaay too hard). Whatever you want to call it, Hallmark can create silly days to celebrate, so why can't I?

By the way, has anyone out there had some good (or bad) experiences with Cafepress? I think I want to create a shirt to go along with all this nonsense.
Everyone, please feel free to join me in paying homage to all the orange foods and drink, and the strangely orange snack foods in particular!

I'll participate!
Though my cheese doodle that I've saved is a little R-rated.
So I don't think you could publish it on your blog for fear of scaring young children!
Those of you who like the ideo of eating only one colour of food for an entire day may appreciate this instructable: http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Live-an-Aesthetic-Life-by-Wearing-Eating-/
on how to only eat, wear and travel by a single colour all day. (Also linked back here by me because I think everyone who has this kind of crazy idea should be "super awesome internet friends" together)

As far as I'm concerned, cheese doodles can never be over-exposed!
I've only ordered through Cafe Press (getting Order of the Stick things) and had no problem with them. Don't know things from the "artist" end of things though.
Perhaps this little sea monster is a Primus fan? I figure he'd be a regular sight if you're 'Sailing The seas Of Cheese'. Nice work!
We created "All Bleeding Stops Eventually" T-shirts, bought one of our own, no problem. No one else has bought our stuff, so can't speak to that.
Its been a few years since I've ordered a shirt from cafe press, and that was because I felt (as did many of my friends) that the quality if the iron-on was pretty low. It looked nice enough at first, but split and cracked very quickly. But like I said, its been a few years and maybe that quality has changed?
"OSNAP" is really more of an event. Like, only the truly faithful carry out an OSNAP on SOSAD. The rest of the world is just SOSAD.
Because OSNAP is also personal--the "P" could stand for "party" or "parade" or "pensiveness" or (for the yogis) "position."
The tee-shirt could say, "OSNAP! It's SOSAD!" or something similarly jubilant.
Just my two orange cents.
I am craving cheese doodles now. BTW, do you eat the ones that break?
Have you heard about Cheesus, the Jesus found among Cheetos by a youth ministor Steve Cragg? It was on CNN even. Here is a link:

I've been a seller at CafePress for over a year now, and I've bought my own products a number of times - I've had great results (both ways - as buyer and seller), and fully support the use.
June 21 is also my wedding day! I'm honored to share it--we'll have to serve something strangely orange. We're going to have a popcorn machine, so maybe some cheesy seasonings.
I recently created and bought from Cafe Press with pretty good results.
oh man I LOVE this one -- it's so summery! I love the ripples on the water. :)
I will raise up my tangtini on June 21st to you whilst eating my cheese and crackers in that little package and gummy orange slices. Solidarity!
I've created at Cafe Press, and when I was not happy with a couple of shirts (a smudge), they sent me new shirts at no charge, and told me to keep the smudged ones. Also ordered their tile box, and the quality was much nicer than I'd expected, for the price.
I've never used Cafepress, and don't know anything about them, but I've used Zazzle and thought they were pretty great: Great interface for uploading and previewing images, great quality printing, good selection of products, reasonable prices, fast turnaround time...
Anyway, I would totally recommend them.
It's a pity you didn't pick April 30th ... since that is Queensday in the Netherlands! We celebrate the birthday of our queen and the colour of the royal family is orange! Whole cities are turned in to big party places. Everyone wears orange clothing, drinks orange juice and eats orange decorated cakes and the streets are decorated with orange flags... if you don't believe me.. check out http://www.thehollandring.com/koninginnedag.shtml
Love your work!
I used and LOVE cafepress.com. Their customer service is the best of any I've ever had to deal with. They replaced a calendar that I'd ordered when it got sent back to them because I forgot to put my APT # on it, and they said that if the first one ever showed up I should keep it. They are FAST and the stuff they make is of a very good QUALITY.
Love them!
Glad you asked!
Love the sea monster!
I've got OSNAP on my calendar so I won't forget (as if I would)! I appreciate that you chose the longest day of the year so everyone can get in extra munch time. I'm just SOSAD that it's still only April.
On with the blather
Steamykitchen- Any person who has R rated cheese puffs is a person after my own heart! ha!
PKM- thanks for the link. I'll go back shortly and read more thoroughly, but it looks very intriguing.
Franmag- I've learned to love 'em too after photographing them so many times.
Susan Z, Zhoen, mama pjs,Alyssa, The Eye, Pike Creek, Melissa, and Justin- Thanks to all of you for your input about Cafe Press and Zazzle. I'm just starting my learning curve on this stuff, and your opinions help a lot.
Katie- Thanks for your ideas! Your new pic is good, but I still like your old one better!
looney- I eat about a dozen every time I open the bag!
Paulina- that is classic. I heard a guy who wanted to start a cheese biz in Nazereth, Pennsylvania, so he could name it Cheeses of Nazereth.
gigi- tangtini? sounds like an evening on the Space Shuttle.
Marlijn- I know about you people in the Netherlands and orange, but I didn't know you had a special day. I learn something every day. The world will have to put up with two special orange food days now, I guess.
Wow, now I don't reply to every comment. That certainly took awhile! ha! Even when I seem quiet and don't reply to everyone, I enjoy reading them all (if that matters at all to anyone).
Sea Monster is inspired. *sounds of clapping*
Wow, awesome! My birthday would be the official SOSAD day...and I love strangely orange snacks! I may even need a stangely orange cake.
Love the sea monster; the water reminds me of the Muppets version of "In the Navy." heh heh
lovin' the chee-sea monster...
b.b.- thank you, thank you (does a curtsy)
heather- a strangely orange cake would be fantastic I think. you're also right about the water.
trish- i like your title better than mine!
tatman- those primus dudes know how to have a good time!

my addition to your cheezy puffs obession
Groan...I totally should have seen the "cheese-sea monster" coming, after the cat one ...the cheese-doodle curve is just too perfect for it. Great work!
Did you know if you Google "Tang recipes" there are all sorts of recipes online for cakes, cookies, and pies made from Tang....
As far as I can tell, noone has so far pointed out that SOSAD is already taken. It's an acronym for Seasonal Orientation-Sadness Affective Disorder, as dramatized in this comic strip.
So I'd vote for OSNAP. No orange food should have to live like that.
I am loving the orange-ness, and I am definitely celebrating.
I would love to see a shot of your fingers after assembling you cheesy works of art.
Oh, and in my family they're called "pee-poofs" but I don't really know why.
I just found your blog, and it's absolutely wonderful. I went through the entire archives today. You are a very creative and talented artist! So glad to have discovered this.
Cafepress works very well. It's not the best way to make a profit but it's a good way to give your "customers" something more.
The "time to end a dysfunctinal relationship" and the pill bottles are my favourites to add to shirts or perhaps cafe cups.
I'm not a fan of cafe press. They seem to get most of the money for the shirts. Also, you see someone wearing a crappy shirt, and you are like, oh, did you get that off cafe press? Find a fun local screen print shop and get a deal on real printed shirts. They look better and last longer. Good luck.
Gabe
I hope you're planning to do a doodle bug as well. :)
This year June 21st has to share the title with June 20th (per the U.S. Naval Observatory:
http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/RS_OneDay.php
) as the longest day (14 hours 56 minutes here in Northern VA). The actual moment of greatest tilt falls on the 20th in the US this year.
