23rd annual Nominate An Object To Use Event!

[Edit-the button give-a-way is over, but keep the object nominations coming!]

It's been a long time since we've done this. This is your chance to name an object for me to use in a shot.

Mention your one (1) object (spork, lemon, etc. And by the way, these two have been done already), then mention an object that someone else has already named. This way, we get a sort of voting process going on.

I'll tally the votes Saturday at 9:00 E.S.T. in the U.S.

One more thing. I'm holding a little give-away. The first five people to send me an image of themselves eating an orange snack each get a Mini Strangely Orange Snack Day Button. (Warning- I'll probably post them!). Be sure to include your address with your picture!

Am I really the first to comment?

A rubix cube. Or maybe a name tag holder (the plastic kind)

Nightfall said...

How about the ubiquitous water bottle (disposable or otherwise)?

Sharon said...

A bunch of single radishes (as opposed to a single bunch of radishes)

DDancer said...

How about a USB Drive

floribunda said...

wow -- no one follows directions, do they? how about some batteries (new)
and I like the idea of darts, but they don't have to be nerf ones.

Omm said...

I like the idea of a usb drive!

How about the ubiquitous mp3 player?

Joe said...

In honor of SOSAD, I nominate a Cheetos Twisted cheese puff. (They're corkscrew-shaped)

And I second the rubix cube; there are lots of good possibilities with that one.

I vote for coffee bean(s). ***It's been so long since I've seen a comment from (and it's been so long I don't even really remember their name) Pike Peak Coffee or was it Dark Roast Coffee, they were always voting for coffee beans.***

As for a 2nd object, because I don't like what's been suggested so far (no offense guys). I'm going to suggest a clothespin either the old-fashioned or newer version.

On with the blather

I second the single radishes.

And I nominate a set of coasters. Simply because I can't think of what you might use them for. :)

A lightbulb, any kind.

I like the juicer idea, either a handheld wooden reamer or the kind with a little dish.

Lara said...

i vote for nail clippers, and i will second the vote for clothespins.

An egg slicer.

And I'll second the coasters.

Helen said...

Hi, I love the idea of a cupboard door just to really test your skills and see if you can create amazing things with any size! (I always find a little flattery helps!)

I like the idea of 'wonderfully misunderstood' with rubik's cube!

Regina said...

Love the ice cube - would like to see the "back story" on how you manage the logistics on that one.

How about some Good-N-Plenty... (she says as she scarfs down a box for breakfast - not orange, but hey...)

AnneMarie said...

How about a butterfly style hair clip, and I like the clothespin suggestion (old).

Must find a camera for a picture!

Nikoli said...

Yep, the ice cube adds difficulty points for sure!

I don't think I've seen a cell phone in an entry yet...

Sam said...

I like the clothspin idea.

I'd also suggest seedlings, as it is garden season!!

A bottle of food dye for my nomination, and I have to Nth the ice cube.

Michael said...

Seconded: a cell phone.
And I'll nominate a music cassette tape.

beemama said...

I'd like to see an eyelash curler, simply because there are few grooming tools as strange-looking.

For my vote, I also like the Nerf dart.

John Martin said...

For a new item... how about the Twitter logo?

My vote goes for the shot glass.

Tatman said...

How about a spark plug? A distributor cap with wires as an octopus? A cell phone maybe? I notice someone else said shot glass. That seems difficult, but it would be great to see.

Lanie Painie said...

an paperclip in it's natural habitat and still shaped like a paperclip? (oooh evolution of a paperclip . . >)

or some under-appreciated boring-colored snack trying to color itself orange . .. so, therefore, I see the above mentioned food dye and RAISE them to orange food dye!

Bob said...

How about a corn cob holder by itself. (I know there is one in the OXO post).

Heather said...

Hmm, for a new object, maybe various condiment packages (ketchup, mustard, relish, etc.).

I definitely 2nd the Eyelash curler. Those are weird, and yet useful. :)

(btw, received my SOSAD shirt yesterday, and proudly wearing it to work today. Everyone loves it! :) )

Have fun

Heather said...

How about a lighter?

Maybe the lighter together with the ice cube.

My votes are for the ice cube, the USB drive, and the eye lash curler.

silvergirl said...

Argh, there are way too many good ones. I'm torn between seconding: ice cube, clothes pin, shot glass, bottle of food coloring, popcorn, eyelash curler and seedlings.
As for my own sggestion, how about Cinnamon Bears (or just gummi bears, mini or regular)? Also: cherries, because they are so cute when attached in twos. Or how about marshmallows?
Okay, i'm leaving now.

I vote for the bunch of single radishes.

and I vote for the radish...cause they are the greatest color.

Please do a scene with a Big Cheez-It and some little Cheeze-It offspring!

I like the water bottle suggestion. They are so random in size and shape - a crowd...

Need to order my SOSAD T-shirt - too cool!

I keep thinking of more ideas. I can't stop.

Back scratcher
hole-punch
spiral binding from a notebook
jars of colorful glitter
mickey mouse or other silly antenna topper
random Barbie parts
baby pacifiers
flaming marshmallow/s'mores maybe witha girlscout theme . .

I should take my meds. lol

Valency said...

Mmmmm... a tiny baby shoe,

a diamond earring, a perfume bottle (or nail polish bottle?),

a candle (lit or otherwise),

dogtags, a medal and a MRE (meal ready to eat) from the military?

It looks like ice cube will take the cake... ah, well. I tried again (I was the monopoly piece girly from last time ;)

How about a twinky?

Lipstick

Ice cube!!!

What about creating characters from a movie from some of the above mentioned items? Eg, lipstick becomes Lois Lane while the nerf dart becomes Superman. Could make for an interesting photo shot.

I suggest a buddha's hand (one of the weirdest looking fruit). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddha%27s_hand

I second the Rubik's cube, just because my fiance is obsessed with them.

Terry said...

alyssa, do they have buddha's hands in your local grocery store? Maybe I've never looked that hard in the produce section. Maybe they keep them between the Granny Smith apples, and the Indiana Musk melons. Maybe all my friends eat them as a snack, and I'm just not clued in yet.

Terry said...

I just reread my comment to poor alyssa, and I think it sounds a little harsh sorry, alyssa.

-but buddha hands on Bent Objects? Um, no. ;)

Diana said...

My recommendation is hair curlers with maybe some bobby pins

I like so many but I'm going to have to go with Rubik's Cube and the individual condiments.

Terry said...

well, after a quick run-through, looks like two cubes are in the lead so far-- rubics' and ice.

i usually start thinking about the ones out in front,
but you never know what will happen.

ell said...

potato chips, potato crisps, anything potato based together like one big mixed family..hehe i think it's silly and fun.

Trish said...

An ice cube and matches.

Alyssa said...

Terry--yes, they have buddha's hands in my local grocery stores. I live in Oakland, CA. Greatest produce anywhere. I understand if it might be difficult to get in Indiana. I grew up in Iowa and never saw one but things change... I still think it would be cool on Bent Objects. Can I mail you one? ;)

Tenebrae said...

Wishbone (old) and chicken wire (new)

How about a baby pacifier or one of those little booger suction things for infants?

And I like the idea of the ice cube...so many endless possibilitied there.
