That is so cool! I hope the Bent Objects book is coming along for you! I can't wait for it's unveiling! Oh... I can offer it as a giveaway on my blog! Such a great idea.
Great looking fly, but its getting a bit intricate and involving too many different objects. One of the best things about your photos Terry, is that they rely on the object itself to make the image. and merely add position to convey the meaning. This seemes a bit too contrived for me.
These last two images posted are in an older style for me, as far as being without a real narrative. I used to start bending wire around an object without having any idea of where I was going with it. It's a fun way to spend some time.
Nothing like these will be in the book, so you don't have to worry about that. ha!
I was thinking this was a bit old school for you! I've been a fan for a long time and while I do really like your older stuff, I love the personality that you can give everyday objects. Things that are still what they are, but alive!
you know, i'd have to disagree with doug walsh and elena. i love almost all the stuff and scenes you make, terry, but i find myself drawn towards the ones that have less back story, like the the tape chameleon and scissor bird and now this creature. i find that the novelty of transforming these day-to-day objects into something completely different is exciting in itself. that, along with the simplicity of what you present, is what makes these my favorites.
Snarky comments? From who? All I see in this thread is a lot of dedicated Bent Objects fans offering some rather polite commentary about what may be the first image Terry posted that didn't hit an immediate home run with everyone.
Blind devotion and unanimous praise don't do an artist any service. Nor does polite constructive criticism do one a disservice.
And besides, it's not wrong to state a personal preference.

Not one of your favorites?
If they start looking like that, I'm moving far, far away. :) I don't even think my little flyswatter would help me. Eeeek!
Now there's an image ... a female flyswatter running from this imposing fly. :) Loving this stuff, Terry.
The backgrounds and drama you created in the past was always the real hook, not just the creatures (as clever as they may be).
Here's hoping you're just holding onto the goodies for your book! :)
A fine balancing act you have to manage: work on the book and make it great, but keep posting pics to keep your audience interested. Good luck!
Very inventive!
Thanks for the visits and replies, people.

Wow, there sure are a lot of people with snarky comments. Whatever.
Terry, your art is wonderful, regardless of your subject or materials. I enjoy each piece and love getting updates whenever you post them.
Keep on, keep on!
That's cool!
I always had a certain vision of a blue bottle fly...made from a blue bottle, of course...
Great kitchen fly!
I love the eyes!
I agree with gatofish completely
