Guy on left: "What gives?!"

Guy on right: "You think you're better than us?"

Nice piece, Terry. Oh, and now I want cake.

I like that the "used" ones just appear ... for lack of a better term - shady.
Like "hey - you wanna burn with us man?"
and the young'un is all forthright and buttoned to the top with his "no way, man - burning is for losers"

Fantastic!

Love it! It's wonderful.

Pffff! I reuse the same candles on different cakes all of the time. Does that mean that I have slutty candles? Great work as always, T!

Yeah, the other two candles look like they either can't believe what they're seeing, or they're trying to come up with a plan to trick him into being just like them. It continues to impress me how much you can get across with a couple of household objects and some wire.

Haha! One of the burnt candles looks like he's asking the non-lit one "Why?" and the other one just looks disbelieving. :) Very cute!

oh, continuing the birthday candle theme? I like it, I like it better than the last one, even!

Hey Terry. Found your blog through Facebook. I saw that a friend of mine became a fan of "Bent Objects" and checked out what it was. Looked at the photos provided and thought them really cool. Saw a link to this blogspot and came to check out more images. I got so hooked on seeing what more there was that you came up with that I continued to look through older posts till they ended in September of 2006. Noticed someone had commented on the last one I saw that he had previewed older posts so I know there was more, just wasn't showing past a certain amount of pages I guess. This stuff is true art. Was quite sad that I couldn't see more. Was actually thinking it would be so cool if you had a gallery of them all to be able to look through anytime.

But then I noticed you have a book coming out. Guess that's how these things always end up. Enjoyable hobbies lead to others getting enjoyment out of it as well and then ultimately it's not free anymore to enjoy. Like a garage band. Heck yea come listen to us gotta raise our publicity. Then once they famous, oh, tickets now huh? 100 bucks you say? Dang. I noticed your little subtitle thing at the top of your blogspot here, laugh our way through the recession, huh? Biggest issue of this recession is money, least for many people; more than anyone realizes. So during the recession you want us to buy a book filled with "Bent Objects", one time simple amusing pleasures. I'm sorry, they're not so simple are they? I do envy your work, all that patience to make these, it's just tremendous. Guess you have to make a living too.

I think I will stick to free pleasures to laugh my way through this horrible recession. I bet your book will be a big hit though, infact, I'm sure it already is. Probably got hundreds of people pre-ordering it. I'd do it myself but, just can't afford to contradict the recession, as you have.
Don't get me wrong. Everyone could do with a good laugh during this recession. But by bringing up the whole recession thing + your book = you trying to use the recession to your advantage for money. In my opinion there was just no reason to mention the recession unless on a more personal level. But the level you brought it up on was trying to level with us; the potential buyers of your book, to try to get us to buy it. Just like any company does. They relate to the customer to get it sold. Good old fashioned salesman.

Anyone can comment this all you want and disagree with me. Go ahead; you've got the money to. But please, no one take offense to this. Especially not you Terry. Just wanted to state my honest opinion as well as let Terry know that he's doing an excellent job and should keep up the good work. We need more people with unique, creative ideas like this. Maybe someday I can enjoy it further and get the book like I'm sure a lot of people are. ^_^

Oh also, cuz there's always someone who has to be a little off on someone's opinion: I'm not saying make the book free. That's dumb. My whole disappointment was just that it'd be so cool to have a gallery to just, enjoy them anytime, much like a book would be, only, if there was a gallery online then, what would be the point of trying to sell a book? That's all. So please no one say; "Well, dummy, he can't just give away free books just cuz there's a recession." Duh, I know that, thanks.

Keep up the good work. I'm glad I don't see any haters commenting, I can't see how anyone would look at this stuff and be like....I dont even know what negativity they could say to this stuff!

WOMAN! THE BOOK IS $12.21 ON AMAZON! IF YOU ARE PISSING AND MOANING ABOUT A $12.21 BOOK, YOU HAVE MORE TO WORRY ABOUT THAN JUST THE RECESSION. WHY SHOULD TERRY JUST KEEP GIVING AWAY HIS STUFF FOR FREE? OMGWTFBBQ THERE'S A RECESSION!?!?!

Christine, this may come as a suprise to you:

Artists are also affected by the recession.

Did that just blow your mind? Try this one:

Artists also have bills to pay.

Pretty heavy stuff, right?

I'm not even entirely sure what you're trying to say - I don't think you are either. Should he not be trying to support himself off of the artwork you've been enjoying? Obviously he can't rely on donations with people like you in existence.

HOW DARE THE THINGS I ENJOY NOT BE FREE? I am going to march to the airport and demand free round-trip tickets to Paris. Because, you know, recession.

Christine- dude, if you don't like it, don't buy it. You're acting like a petulant child- y'know, the ones that get mad at mommy and daddy so they say horrible things to get their way? If you knew Terry wasn't going to give it up for free, why even bother typing it? Either you're an attention whore with too much free time, or you're just sick and tired at blowing hard core when it comes to maturity. Grow up, and whine to your grocery store. They might care more. Geez.

Hey Christine, like that novel you wrote up there.... you should publish that comment and sell it on Amazon!

falnfenix said...

hey Christine...do you truly believe Terry is going to remove the blog from the internet once the book gets published? you're overly demanding for someone who's getting a free pass from the artist.

Christine, please come comment on my blog.

LiteralDan said...

Wow, if I'd scrolled down to see just how long Christine's comment was going to be, I would have printed it out and stacked it on my bedside table below the other novels on my To Do list.

Christine, I have to say, whining at your level is truly an art. Please never, never sell out like this monster Terry. Just starve and die while staying as pure as freshly fallen snow. That'll show 'em.

Geez, Christine, you probably look for all of the free porn sites too, don't you? It would be nice to be able to afford to pay for quality porn, but in this recession you should probably just stick to the free galleries of pics. Okay, I'll stop there....

Terry, thanks for not deleting her comment. You know that a controversy is good for publicity, right? LOL!
